The faculty at Santa Monica College is getting a 6.9% pay raise this year under a contract approved Monday by the school’s board of trustees. .
The three-year contract, which the faculty ratified last week, provides for the 6.9% raise retroactive to Jan. 1., plus a $400 one-time bonus for full-time teachers. Salaries for the 256 full-time teachers will range from $28,194 to $55,988. In addition, each instructor will move up one step on the seniority scale, which translates to an average of about $1,000 annually, said college spokesman Bruce Smith.
The college’s 420 part-time teachers, who earn from $32.40 to $39 an hour, get raises of $3.30 or $3.50 an hour this year under the contract, Smith said.
For 1991 and 1992, both full-time and part-time instructors will get pay raises equal to the increase in the cost of living, a figure determined by the state, plus 2%, Smith said. The trustees also gave a 6.9% increase and $400 bonus to deans, assistant deans, program directors and other administrators. With the raises, their salaries will range from $53,760 to $90,300, Smith said.
The trustees also gave a 6.9% increase plus a seniority-based raise to college President Richard Moore, increasing his salary from $105,011 to $113,784, Smith said.
