SHORT TAKES : Barr Does Honeymoon Shopping

AUSTIN, Tex. — Television comedy star Roseanne Barr caused a brief stir when she and her new husband went shopping for University of Texas sweat shirts and T-shirts during their honeymoon, a newspaper reported.

Barr and Tom Arnold, a longtime friend and comedy writer, were wed at Barr’s Los Angeles home Saturday.

The couple were accompanied to the University Co-op store Wednesday by an unidentified young woman, the Austin American-Statesman reported. Barr has a teen-age daughter whom she gave up for adoption years ago and who lives in Texas, the newspaper said.

“They drove up in a big, black-and-brown stretch limo, parked in front of the store and came in,” said George Mitchell, University Co-op president. “He (Arnold) was very jovial. He said, ‘Hi everyone. Here’s Roseanne.’ ”

Publicists for Barr in Los Angeles did not return phone calls Thursday seeking information about her honeymoon itinerary.
