VAL D'ISERE, France — Heavy snowfall, a rarity on this winter’s ski circuit, wiped out a men’s World Cup downhill today, and the race was rescheduled for Sunday.
More than a foot of snow fell by midday, making it impossible to maintain the course, but the outlook for upcoming races was brightened. Another downhill is scheduled Saturday and the Super-G on Monday.
“We’ve been waiting for this so long that we really can’t complain,” said Jean-Claude Fritch, director of the Sports Club.
