P.V. Schools Plan Meeting on Busing

In the wake of a decision by a private transit company to curtail school bus service for peninsula children, Palos Verdes school officials will hold a meeting Wednesday to discuss transit alternatives.
Mark IV Charter Lines Inc. announced 10 days ago that it would not provide the service after Feb. 9 because of poor ridership. The company said fewer than 400 students subscribed to the service. At the beginning of the school year, parents paid $400 per child for the service.
Last year, the company was the only one to submit a bid to the district to provide the bus service.
School district spokesman Nancy Mahr said representatives of private and public transit systems are expected to attend the 7:30 p.m. meeting, which will be held at the district’s administrative headquarters, 3801 Via La Selva, Palos Verdes Estates.
