Bush Attacks Racism From Church Pulpit

WASHINGTON — President Bush drew a chorus of “amens” from the congregation at a black church Sunday when he spoke out against racism.
Bush, attending the worship service at John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church, said: “Let us recommit ourselves to work for justice and for unity of all people. And let me add, no more letter bombs. No more racism. Leave the entire baggage of bigotry behind,” the President said.
He was referring to last month’s killings of a federal judge and a civil rights lawyer and threats against the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People.
