THE SIDELINES : Mader Wins Super Giant Slalom

LES MENUIRES, France — Guenther Mader of Austria won a World Cup super giant slalom today, beating Norway’s Ole Christian Furuseth by .45 seconds.
Mader was timed in 1 minute, 14.79 seconds to Furuseth’s 1:15.24. Norway’s Atle Skardaal, winner of the 50th anniversary Hahnenkamm downhill at Kitzbuhel, Austria, 10 days ago, was third in 1:15.26.
It was the second victory of the season for Mader, who has won five times since his first win in 1986.
