Gaytan, Released From USC, Transfers to CS Long Beach

Bolivia Gaytan, who was granted a release from USC, has enrolled at Cal State Long Beach, where she was given a scholarship to play for the women’s basketball team.
The 6-foot-4 center must sit out two semesters and complete 24 units before becoming eligible.
“She can practice and receive aid until such requirements are met,” associate athletic director Kay Don said. Gaytan is expected to play her first game--as a junior--shortly after taking final examinations next fall.
A product of Dominguez High School, Gaytan cited irreconcilable differences with USC Coach Marianne Stanley as her reason for leaving the school. She averaged 13.3 minutes, 4.5 points and five rebounds in four games
Long Beach Coach Joan Bonvicini, who was unavailable for comment, was one of many to recruit Gaytan before she eventually chose USC.
