Messages and Signals From the World of Rap

On Page 1 of the Feb. 4 Times was an article on the transplanting of L.A. gangs into the middle of America. The story told me some gang members wear Raiders caps and use secretive hand signals. Then I picked up the Sunday Calendar to read up on our newest heroes and, lo and behold, there was a man sporting a Raiders caps and slipping me one of those hand signals.

Now it seems that either you’re using rappers to sell newspapers or Chuck D. is using Calendar to sell albums--or I’m using you all for cheap entertainment. Who’s guilty here? Maybe all of us?
