Top-seeded Brad Gilbert dominated erratic Jonas Svensson of Sweden, 6-1, 6-3, to win the $450,000 ABN World tournament at Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Gilbert, ranked fourth in the world, needed 80 minutes to win his first-ever tournament title in Europe.
He earned $65,000 for his first title of the season. Svensson made $38,100.
Michael Stich of West Germany rallied to win the final two sets for his first professional tournament victory, defeating Australian Wally Masur, 6-7 (7-5), 6-4, 7-6 (7-1) in the $250,000 Volvo Indoor at Memphis, Tenn.
Aaron Krickstein broke Tim Mayotte’s serve twice in the final set, gaining a 6-3, 6-4, victory Sunday to win the $300,000 Eagle round-robin tournament at Scottsdale, Ariz.
Krickstein, No. 6 in the world, broke the ninth-ranked Mayotte’s service three times in the championship match.
The victory was worth $100,000 for Krickstein while Mayotte earned $50,000.
