Four student protesters at Leuzinger High School in Lawndale said they were suspended Wednesday for five days for participating in the mass walkouts at the school earlier this week in protests against alleged racism.
About a dozen others said school officials ordered them off the campus for the rest of the day.
School officials could not be reached for comment but the students showed a reporter their suspension slips.
School board members agreed Wednesday to meet with students at both Leuzinger and Hawthorne High School today, but several protesters said they plan to go ahead with a boycott of classes at Leuzinger today.
At Hawthorne High School, police referred eight students to the truancy office but described the situation as calm.
