Soweto Man Found Guilty in Death of Mandela Aide

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa — A 25-year-old Soweto man was found guilty Thursday of murdering a member of the notorious bodyguard that surrounded black activist Winnie Mandela before her husband’s release.
Sibusiso Chili, one of a gang that waged war against the so-called Mandela United Football Club, was convicted at the Rand Supreme Court of killing Maxwell Madondo in February, 1989. Two others were found guilty of assault for their part in the murder. Sentence will be passed today.
