Bonwit Teller Stores Sold: The Pyramid Cos., a Syracuse, N.Y., private company that operates 16 malls in New York and Massachusetts, will buy five Bonwit Teller stores in an agreement that is likely to ensure the survival of the elegant chain’s name, according to the New York Times. Sale of the stores, owned by L. J. Hooker Corp., must be approved by a federal bankruptcy court.
