An Eagle Rock woman convicted in what authorities said was the worst case of animal neglect in city history was sentenced Friday to 60 days in county jail and prohibited from owning any other pets while on probation.
Rebecca E. Courlie, 44, who kept dozens of malnourished and disease-ridden dogs, cats and birds in deplorable conditions at her home, was allowed to delay beginning her jail term pending the outcome of an appeal. Along with the jail time, Municipal Judge J. Stephen Czuleger also placed Courlie on three years’ probation and ordered her to undergo psychiatric counseling.
