Youths Have Fun and Raise Money, Too
Lynn Pace School in Bellflower held its fifth annual fund-raising carnival at Thompson Park, and the fun was shared by supervisors as well as the students. Pace School is a county special education facility for handicapped youths. The money raised will go to support a program called Art in Motion, in which students get hands-on experience in various artistic media and activity themes during May. The three-day carnival in the past has helped to raise several thousand dollars. Many of the workers are obtained through a county program whereby courts can assign probationary youths to work with the handicapped children a few hours a day.
