Carl Scheer, the only general manager the Charlotte Hornets have had, announced he will leave the team to return to the Denver Nuggets as president, a position he held from 1974 through ’84.
Sheer, the Clippers’ general manager in 1984-86, was hired by the Hornets on Jan. 1, 1988. He reportedly was working without a contract.
