9 Groups Get Grants From Olympic Surplus

The Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles, the agency charged with disseminating Southern California’s share of the 1984 Olympic surplus, announced nine new grants totaling $359,700. The largest was $150,000 to the organizing committee of the 1991 Los Angeles Olympic Festival for Olympic hopefuls from across the country.
Other grants included $54,000 to the Los Angeles Throwing Center, which offers instructional clinics in the hammer, discus, shot put and javelin, and $13,800 to the Mats Gymnastics Club in downtown Los Angeles. Grants also went outside the city to several organizations in Orange, San Diego and Imperial counties.
