A fire gutted a popular Tustin restaurant early this morning, causing more than $1 million in damage, fire officials said.
The fire heavily damaged the interior of the Cookbook Restaurant in the Enderle Shopping Center at 17th and Yorba streets near the Costa Mesa Freeway.
No injuries were reported. The restaurant was closed and employees had left before the blaze broke out, Orange County fire spokeswoman Kathleen Cha said.
Cha said more than half of the one-story building was enveloped in flames when firefighters arrived at 2:27 a.m.
It took 52 firefighters about an hour to control the three-alarm blaze, she said.
Cha said the building’s interior was almost completely gutted. Firefighters, however, saved an office that contained the company’s records.
Damage has been estimated at $1,175,000 and an investigation is under way.
