Burning the flag: The Times received 119 letters on the Supreme Court’s decision that Congress may not make it a crime to burn the flag. President Bush and his supporters have called for a constitutional amendment to overturn the decision. Eighty-seven letters were against an amendment, 20 supported an amendment, while 12 took no position.
