AUCKLAND, New Zealand — Provocative American soul and rap artist Bobby Brown will play a sold-out show here tonight despite his father’s arrest in Australia on rape and assault charges, his promoter said.
Herbert James Brown, 60, a disabled Korean War veteran and father of nine, has been charged with rape and deprivation of liberty of a 16-year-old girl, and bodily harm to another girl, Queensland police said.
He was remanded on bail by Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Promoter Manolo Echave of Frontier Touring told Reuters that the singer did not believe the charges were genuine and that the show would go ahead.
