A 16-year-old boy was being held Friday in Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted homicide after shooting his father in the head and stabbing his mother in the abdomen and chest, a San Diego police spokesman said.
The boy’s name was not released because he is a juvenile.
James Arp, 39, is in serious condition and his wife, Deborah Arp, 38, is in critical but stable condition at Mercy Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said. The couple live in the 4400 block of Polk Avenue with their 16-year-old son, a 12-year-old daughter, and a 5-year-old son.
Details of the incident are sketchy, and police still do not know a motive, said police spokesman Bill Robinson.
Officers were called to the house shortly after 6 a.m. Friday. A 9-millimeter handgun was found in the house, Robinson said. Police have released no other details.
