AIRPORT WARS: Assembly Transportation Committee Chairman Richard Katz (D-Panorama City) is announcing his support today for a monorail that would link L.A. and Palmdale, boosting plans to build an international airport there. . . . Orange County supervisors favor an airport at George Air Force Base in San Bernardino County. Katz’s move “concerns me,” says Orange County transportation chief Dana W. Reed, “because an airport in Palmdale does nothing to solve the serious airport congestion problem here.”
