Four male guards at a Santa Clarita Valley jail were reassigned after sheriff’s officials opened a probe into allegations that the guards urged inmates to expose themselves and throw eggs and tomatoes at a female deputy as part of a hazing, authorities said Thursday.
The 26-year-old female deputy alleged that inmates harassed her while she was on duty at the 9,000-inmate Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho, said Sheriff’s Capt. Tom Hehir. She said male deputies ignored her calls for aid.
Sheriff’s investigators are looking into allegations that the male deputies promised inmates extra food in exchange for harassing her.
