U.S. to Sue Procter & Gamble: The Justice Department said it opposes an agreement for the company to acquire rights to Maalox, a popular stomach pain remedy. The department said it intended to file a civil antitrust suit in Philadelphia to block the proposed agreement for Procter & Gamble to acquire exclusive rights to market and distribute Maalox. Procter & Gamble makes Pepto-Bismol and the Justice Department said the agreement would give the company too great a share of the over-the-counter antacid market. Maalox is made by Rhone Poulenc Rorer Inc. of Ft. Washington, Pa.
