Vinny Pazienza outhustled Greg Haugen in Atlantic City, N.J., to capture a 10-round unanimous decision in the third meeting between the two former lightweight champions.
Haugen and Pazienza split International Boxing Federation lightweight championship bouts in 1987 and 1988.
Pazienza, 27, of Rhode Island, built an early lead using quick lateral movements before Haugen, 29, slowed him down with body shots, particularly in round six through eight. He improved to 29-4. Haugen, of Auburn, Wash., fell to 25-3-1, with 13 KOs.
Olympian Ray Mercer improved to 16-0 with a 12-round unanimous decision over Bert Cooper.
