La Jolla’s Huber Is Eliminated in Second Round of Grass Court

Ditta Huber of La Jolla lost to Jennifer Baker of Mentor, Ohio, 6-2, 6-2, Tuesday in the second round of the National Grass Court tennis championships at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
Huber, who won the Girls 16s Nationals Saturday in San Diego, teamed with Lisa Alipaz of Anaheim Hills for a 6-2, 6-0 doubles victory over Anna Marie Gonzalez and Helene Kappler of Venezuela. Huber and Alipaz play doubles again Thursday.
HOCKEY
The San Diego Gulls, the International Hockey League’s newest expansion team, will open their 1990-91 season at home Oct. 5 and 6 against Salt Lake City at the San Diego Sports Arena.
The Gulls will play five of their first six games at home. Their road opener is Oct. 10 at Salt Lake City.
The 41-game home regular season will conclude April 7 against Albany.
