An 86-year-old Jamul woman died Wednesday after her car ran off the road and down an embankment on California 94 just west of Lyons Valley Road, a deputy coroner said.
Jennie Leona Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene about 10:37 a.m., said Deputy Coroner Charles Kelley.
Bennett, who was not wearing a seat belt, was driving east on 94 when witnesses saw her swerving, then go down an embankment, Kelley said.
An autopsy is scheduled.
