Fifty people were arrested over the weekend by a drunk-driving task force conducted by the Glendale Police Department and the California Highway Patrol, police said.
The task force, which involved 40 officers and which ran from 7 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday, arrested 46 people on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and four for driving in a stolen car, Glendale Police Sgt. Karl Ward said.
Under a state law implemented last month, officers of the task force confiscated the licenses of several drivers found to be under the influence of alcohol, Ward said. California law defines those drivers with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or more as being under the influence.
