PREP FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Villa Park Takes Early Lead, Beats Bolsa Grande, 43-21

GARDEN GROVE — Villa Park High School scored 30 points in the first half of a 43-21 victory over host Bolsa Grande.
The Spartans scored first when Stanton Nielson recovered a blocked punt in the end zone to make the score 7-0.
Bolsa Grande came back with a 12-play, 80-yard drive capped by Marcus Wilson’s one-yard run which tied the score, 7-7.
Ellis Williams’ 90-yard touchdown run on the Spartans’ first offensive play of the game gave Villa Park (1-0) a 14-7 lead with 5:02 minutes remaining in the first quarter. The Spartans, ranked No. 7 in Orange County, controlled the rest of the game as five players scored touchdowns. They led 30-7 at halftime.
Williams, a junior, paced the Villa Park offense by gaining 153 yards in 14 carries. He also had an 88-yard kickoff return negated by a clipping penalty.
