Soviet Troops on Crime Spree

EAST BERLIN — Soviet soldiers tried to rob an East German electronics store and escaped a high-speed police chase after their truck overturned and spilled grenades and bullets on an autobahn, police said today.
The soldiers, in a Soviet military truck, tried to run a police car off the road near Wittstock, 60 miles northwest of Berlin, on Sunday. The truck overturned trying to make a U-turn on an autobahn, spilling grenades, cartridges and gasoline, police said.
The soldiers escaped on foot into nearby woods.
