Lincoln Lawsuits: If the lawsuits over the collapse of Lincoln Savings & Loan in Irvine and its parent, American Continental Corp., ever go to trial, thousands of small investors from Southern California won’t find it easy going to court.
U.S. District Court Judge Richard M. Bilby has decided that the cases will be tried in Arizona, either in Phoenix where American Continental is based or in his Tucson courtroom where computers would be used to aid questioning of witnesses and transcribing of testimony.
The judge has denied a motion by the investors’ attorneys to return part of the litigation to the Orange County Superior Court. The attorneys say they will appeal the decision.
