Furnishings 2000 Files Bankruptcy: The company, which operates 37 furniture stores in California, filed late last week for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New York. Andrew Brozman, an attorney with GF Holdings, the New York-based company that owns 67% of Furnishing 2000’s shares, did not know if its stores would remain open following the filing. GF Holdings also owns Atlanta-based Leath Furniture, a profitable 40-store chain in the Midwest and Florida.
