Business Expectations Slump: Business expectations for higher sales and profits have fallen to the lowest point since the end of the 1982 recession, Dun & Bradstreet Corp. said in its latest quarterly survey. The data added to growing evidence that the nation is in a recession or is about to enter one after more than seven years of economic growth. Joseph Duncan, Dun & Bradstreet’s chief statistician, cautioned against an overly pessimistic view: “The results may have been exaggerated by the high levels of anxiety immediately following the takeover,” Duncan said.
