RECALLS : Warning Issued on Muffy Bear

WASHINGTON — If you are planning to give a Muffy Valentine II plush bear to a child, the manufacturer and the Consumer Product Safety Commission have a word of warning: remove the buttons from the dress. The buttons might separate and young children could choke on them, the commission said today.
It said the manufacturer, the North American Bear Co., agreed to issue the warning. The commission said neither it nor the manufacturer knows of any injuries that have been caused by the toy bears, of which about 20,000 were sold nationwide between October, 1988, and July, 1990.
The commission said consumers with questions about the warning may telephone the company at (312) 329-0020.
