WORLD : Bombs Target Pepsi, Coke Plants
MANILA — Rebels exploded bombs at a Coca-Cola bottling plant near President Corazon Aquino’s palace and at a suburban Pepsi facility early today, wounding one person and causing considerable damage, police said.
Two men riding on a motorcycle also tossed a bundle of dynamite at Motorola Philippines Inc., a U.S.-owned electronics company, in nearby Paranaque town Tuesday night. That bomb did not go off, police said.
The bombing at the Coca-Cola plant tore down the wood and metal ceilings of the warehouse and damaged a plant generator.
Rightist soldiers were believed behind the bombing and the earlier attack at the Pepsi plant.
