PREP ROUNDUP : No. 1 Corona del Mar Rallies for Water Polo Victory

Robbie Pike had 10 saves and Austin Weir and Ryan Weir each scored three goals as Corona del Mar High School rallied to defeat Newport Harbor, 9-4, in a Sea View League water polo game Wednesday at Newport Harbor.
Fifth-ranked Newport Harbor (3-3, 0-1 in league) led, 4-3, at halftime but top-ranked Corona del Mar shut out the Sailors in the second half. Corona del Mar (9-0, 1-0) scored three goals in each of the third and fourth quarters.
In Orange League water polo:
Brea-Olinda 15, Anaheim 3--Scott Kling and Chad Carlberg each had three goals and Scott Estrada, Jason Bird and Matt Priess each had two for Brea-Olinda (12-4, 1-0).
Valencia 13, Savanna 4--Chad Beeler had six goals to lead visiting Valencia (7-5, 2-0). Ryan Engstrom had three goals for Valencia.
In Pacific Coast League water polo:
Laguna Hills 7, Laguna Beach 6--J.J. Carvin had three goals to lead host Laguna Hills (6-1, 1-0). Goalie Jim Baldwin had 10 saves, including three one-on-one blocks, for Laguna Hills.
Costa Mesa 20, Estancia 12--Corey Delahunt had 11 goals to lead Costa Mesa. Tony Sekete had four and Julian Popov had three for visiting Costa Mesa (8-7, 1-0).
In nonleague girls’ tennis:
Los Alamitos 10, Rosary 8--Host Los Alamitos (5-2) swept all its doubles matches. The match came down to the final doubles game in which Los Alamitos sophomore Erica Ladney and Laura Westphal beat Rosary’s No. 1 doubles team, 6-3.
La Quinta 10, Fullerton 8--Thanh Chiem and Janet Tham swept their doubles sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, to lead host La Quinta (2-6).
Corona del Mar 10, Dana Hills 8--Keri Phebus swept, 6-0, 6-4, 6-1, to lead visiting Corona del Mar (5-2).
In Pacific Coast League girls’ volleyball:
Laguna Beach 3, Estancia 0--Tori Scott and Rachel Wacholder each had seven kills to lead host Laguna Beach (9-3, 1-0) to a 15-3, 15-7, 15-5 victory.
Laguna Hills 3, Century 1--Linda Fleming had 13 kills and 11 aces to lead host Laguna Hills (2-4, 1-0) to a 15-5, 15-11, 9-15, 15-10 victory.
In Arrowhead League girls’ volleyball:
Calvary Chapel 3, Leffingwell Christian 1--Christine Prigmore had 20 kills to lead visiting Calvary Chapel (6-1, 5-0) to a 15-6, 15-11, 8-15, 15-6 victory.
