COLLEGE FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : UCLA : Bruins, Trojans Exit Early From Rose Bowl Contention
- Share via
On the assumption that two Pacific 10 Conferences losses would eliminate a team from the Rose Bowl race, it’s the earliest exit since 1971 for both UCLA and USC.
UCLA finished 1-4-1 in the then-Pacific 8 Conference in 1971 and was 2-7-1 overall. USC was 3-2-1 in conference play and 6-4-1 overall.
Only four teams in the 74-year history of the Pac-10 have won the conference championship with as many as two defeats. UCLA was the last, with a 6-2 record in 1985.
