Ferrari is threatening to quit Formula One racing if the sport’s governing body does not take steps to prevent the recurrence of collisions that marred the last two world championships.
Ferrari’s chairman, Piero Fusaro, in a letter to the International Auto Racing Federation, protested the behavior of some drivers whose actions hurt the Italian team on the Grand Prix circuit.
The protests were touched off by Sunday’s collision between a McLaren-Honda driven by Ayrton Senna of Brazil and a Ferrari driven by Frenchman Alain Prost in the Grand Prix of Japan.
