Alleged Murders of Blacks by Klan to Be Investigated

WASHINGTON — A television network said Thursday the Justice Department is looking into a convicted murderer’s allegations that at least 25 blacks were abducted from the Washington area, then tortured and killed by the Ku Klux Klan in the 1960s.
Fox News said some of the bodies may be buried in mass graves near Warrenton, Va., about 45 miles southwest of Washington.
Authorities were told of the abductions by Edward Allen See, an inmate in a Nevada prison, Fox said. See is serving a life sentence without possibility of parole for the murders of two women.
The network said See told the FBI a number of blacks were kidnaped at random from the streets of Washington. See also has alleged the killings were done with the complicity of local law enforcement officials and politicians.
