Poway Topples Torrey Pines for Title
Poway and Torrey Pines emerged from different brackets and met in the championship match of the Santa Barbara/ASICS National girls volleyball tournament Saturday. The match went five games with Poway prevailing, 1-15, 15-7, 13-15, 15-13, 15-7.
Poway had two players named to the all-tournament team: setter Shana Purvis and middle blocker Heather Burke.
Poway and Torrey Pines meet again Tuesday in a Palomar League match.

Southern Conference
Rasham Salaam ran for 185 yards and four touchdowns on seven carries to lead La Jolla Country Day to a 57-12 victory over Santa Fe Christian. The Southern Conference game was called after two quarters because of the 40-point rule.
Army-Navy 31, Holtville 14--James Reed ran 24 times and gained 161 yards and scored a touchdown to lead Army-Navy.
