Short Takes : Hockey’s Gilmour Scores Role

EDMONTON, Alberta — Doug Gilmour of the Calgary Flames is about to accomplish what even Wayne Gretzky hasn’t. He’s going to be a movie star.
Gilmour, 27, has been chosen to portray Peter Revson, the playboy race car driver, in the movie “The Peter Revson Story,” to be filmed in Toronto next summer.
“I’m a little scared about it,” Gilmour said after producer Gene Corman issued a statement announcing the player’s involvement. “It’s something new and I’m excited about it. My gut’s turning a little bit, because it’s a talent, and everyone would love to have a chance to do it. It’s going to be a nice challenge.”
Corman said he selected Gilmour on a hunch and because Gilmour resembled Revson, who died in a racing accident in 1974.
Gretzky has played a cameo role on a soap opera.
