The president of McDonnell Aircraft Co., William S. Ross, 64, will retire Dec. 31 after 35 years with the St. Louis-based company. Gerry Johnston, president of McDonnell Douglas Corp., will be temporarily assigned as the company’s president until a permanent successor can be named.
