SANTA PAULA : Reception to Honor 2 Leaving Council
- Share via
Two members of the Santa Paula City Council who are not seeking reelection will be honored at a reception Saturday.
Mayor Kay Wilson, a real estate agent who has been on the council since 1986, will become president of the local Boys and Girls Club. She will write a weekly column in the local newspaper in which she will comment on community issues, Wilson said.
“At times I wish I’d decided to continue,” she said. “But I think my decision is appropriate. I brought energy and new ideas to the council, not all of which were accepted. But that’s OK. I trust the voters to make wise choices.”
The other departing councilman, Carl Barringer, has served since 1982 and was mayor in 1983-84 and 1988-89. Barringer said he plans to devote more time to his commercial construction firm.
The reception will be held at the Community Center, 530 W. Main St., from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The $5 cost covers hors d’oeuvres. There also will be a no-host bar. Reservations should be made at 933-4208.
