Canyon 28, Saugus 3--Tailback David McDivitt rushed for 68 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Canyon (8-1, 3-1) at College of the Canyons.
After being stopped on its first possession, Canyon took a 7-0 lead on McDivitt’s two-yard touchdown run. McDivitt scored on another two-yard run with 5:37 left in the half to give Canyon a 21-0 lead.
Cowboy quarterback Kevin Bialas broke the 1,000-yard passing mark for the season. He completed 14 of 22 passes for 162 yards, including a 16-yard scoring toss to Jim Zopelis, and has 1,132 yards in nine games. Canyon had 216 rushing yards.
Saugus (2-7, 1-3) avoided a shutout with 5:39 to play on Rob Chilton’s 39-yard field goal. Saugus was held to 62 yards rushing and 71 passing.
