ORANGE — Brian Remmel scored two touchdowns in less than three minutes during the third quarter to lead Orange High School (5-3-1, 2-1-1 in league) to a 14-6 Century League victory Friday night over visiting Canyon.
Remmel’s first score, a three-yard run, came at the 6:46 mark after Jeff Peterson returned a punt 20 yards to the Canyon 31-yard line. Josh Belovsky passed 12 yards to Grady Stevens, and Acen Chiles rushed to the three, setting up Remmel’s touchdown run.
Orange’s Nate White forced a Canyon fumble on the following kickoff and recovered it himself on the Canyon 21. Belovsky passed 16 yards to Kris Lister, and then Remmel ran the ball over from the five.
Canyon’s only score came on Jeff Brunswick’s five-yard run with nine seconds remaining in the third period.
Interceptions by Mark Lightfoot and Chiles in the fourth quarter ensured the victory for Orange.
