PREP ROUNDUP : Villa Park Beats Mission Viejo in Water Polo

Villa Park High School withstood a fourth-quarter charge and defeated Mission Viejo, 8-7, in a nonleague water polo game Friday at Villa Park.
Fourth-ranked Villa Park led, 5-2, with just over two minutes left in the third quarter before Mission Viejo made a charge to pull within 6-5 with 2:30 remaining. The teams traded goals from that point, and Villa Park was able to hang on.
Kip Parsons had four goals, and Josh Woolery had two for Villa Park (20-6).
In another nonleague game:
Esperanza 13, Loyola 11--Mark Campagna had nine goals for host Esperanza (11-11). Craig Thomas had 10 saves for Esperanza.
In Angelus League water polo:
Servite 13, Santa Margarita 4--Servite (11-3, 6-2) qualified for Southern Section 3-A playoffs for the first time in five years. Justin Daniels scored two goals.
In Orange League water polo:
Brea-Olinda 21, Western 7--Bryan Noyes had four goals, and Scott Kling and Chad Carlberg each had three for visiting Brea-Olinda (20-5, 9-1), which won the league championship and passed the 1987 school record for season victories.
In Pacific Coast League girls’ volleyball:
Laguna Beach 3, Trabuco Hills 0--Kealy Clarke had 24 assists, and Ashley Wacholder had 11 kills to lead second-ranked Laguna Beach (19-4, 10-0) to a 15-3, 15-0, 15-1 victory. Laguna Beach has gone undefeated in league for two consecutive seasons.
In Academy League girls’ volleyball:
St. Margaret’s 3, Inland Christian 1--Shannon Carroll had nine kills and two aces, and Hilary Albers had 15 assists and four aces to lead St. Margaret’s (14-6, 6-0) to a 16-14, 14-16, 15-11, 15-10 victory and clinch the league title.
In South Coast League girls’ tennis:
El Toro 11, Irvine 7--El Toro’s No. 1 doubles team of Denise Kenyon and Jessica Ledford and No. 2 doubles team of Carrie Anderson and Joclyn Jespersen swept their matches as the Chargers won a playoff for third place in the league.
In Sunset League girls’ individual tennis:
Urricariet wins singles--Renee Urricariet of Fountain Valley defeated teammate Michelle Berkowitz, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, for the singles championship at Lindborg Racquet Club in Huntington Beach.
In doubles, Marisa Mell and Nora Kapche of Fountain Valley defeated Jennifer Johnson and Courtney Woods of Huntington Beach, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3, for the title.
