Savings Bonds Sales Up: The Treasury Department said sales of U.S. Savings Bonds increased 14% in October--to $670 million from $589 million in October, 1989. October redemptions, meanwhile, totaled $631 million, 15% more than the $550 million of a year earlier. The value of bonds held by the public grew to a record $124.56 billion, the department said.
