Brisbane, Australia, will bid for the right to host the Olympic Games in 2000, Mayor Sallyanne Atkinson said.
Brisbane, which failed in an earlier bid to get the 1992 Games that were awarded to Barcelona, Spain, is expected to compete against Melbourne and Sydney for the Australian nomination.
Berlin and Beijing are seen as the early front-runners in the race to host the Olympics in 2000, although Milan, Rio de Janeiro and London also have indicated interest.
