Michael Blatt, a former general manager of the Seattle Seahawks, will remain in jail until prosecutors decide whether he should be retried for the murder of a business rival, a judge ruled.
Superior Court Judge Frank Kim set a Dec. 23 deadline for prosecutors to decide about a second trial for Blatt.
Blatt, 44, is charged with murder and conspiracy in the Feb. 28, 1989, crossbow murder of Laurence Carnegie, a competing real estate developer. Blatt allegedly hired two former University of Pacific football players to kill Carnegie and Blatt’s former business partner, John Farley.
A six-month trial ended in a hung jury last week after jurors questioned the credibility of the two killers, James Mackey and Carl Hancock, who testified against Blatt.
