SAN DIEGO — Christina Adams, who led the state in scoring with a 38.3-point average last season, said Friday she plans to play basketball for UC Irvine and will sign a national letter of intent Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.
Adams, a 5-6 guard who transferred from La Mesa Grossmont High School to El Cajon Granite Hills this year, had narrowed her choices to Irvine, Dartmouth, Yale, San Diego State and Arizona.
Adams said she made her decision last Wednesday after visiting SDSU. She had previously visited Dartmouth and UCI.
Adams said UC Irvine, which had a 1-27 record last season, has been one of her top choices since the end of her sophomore year, when she received her first recruiting letter from the school.
