EASTERN SAUDI ARABIA — A U.S. Army soldier taking part in Operation Desert Shield has been found dead, apparently of natural causes, in a shower, military officials said.
The soldier was identified as Sgt. James Wilcher, 25, by officials at Ft. Bliss, Tex., where he had been stationed earlier. They said he was found dead Thursday after dinner.
A preliminary investigation showed no evidence of foul play, the Pentagon said.
The soldier was assigned to the 118th Ordnance Detachment of the 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade.
